6. Shadow Box with 3D Dried and Pressed Botanicals
If you want to combine the delicate texture of pressed flat flowers with the rich dimension of fully dried, three-dimensional elements, a shadow box is the perfect medium. This allows you to display thicker botanical specimens that cannot fit in a standard flat frame.
Choose a shadow box frame with at least one to two inches of depth. Line the back of the shadow box with linen fabric or textured handmade paper. Create a layered composition by gluing flatter pressed leaves and ferns directly to the background. Then, layer semi-pressed flowers, dried seed pods, twigs, and even small dried mushrooms or moss in the foreground. This creates a miniature, three-dimensional forest floor scene that invites close inspection.
